The Mutual Bank has announced the change of its legal name from Maitland Mutual Building Society Limited to ‘Maitland Mutual Limited’, following a majority vote at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26^th September 2019.

In March Maitland Mutual Building Society Limited commenced trading as The Mutual Bank. Chairman of the Board Trevor Robinson said the changes to the organisations trading name and legal name are an important step in laying the foundations for the organisation’s future growth and development.

“The removal of the term ‘Building Society’ from our name signifies our development as a business in alignment with our community and members’ needs. The Mutual Bank has, and continues to evolve and our new trading and legal names better articulate what it is we do for our members and the role we play in the financial landscape of the Hunter Region,” said Mr Robinson.

“Our organisational structure and operations will not change as a result, we are and will continue to be a member-owned financial institution, with our priorities as an organisation resting firmly on delivering exceptional financial products and services for our members,” said Mr Robinson.

The change in The Mutual Bank’s legal name was unanimously recommended by the Board of Directors and put to a member vote, the greater part being tendered through postal submissions and attendance at the AGM and a resounding majority in favour of the adoption of the new name.

The use of ‘Maitland Mutual Limited’ as the new legal name for The Mutual Bank will commence upon registration with ASIC.
